About Chris
Chris purchased a small juniper bonsai to put in his Japanese-inspired bathroom 25 yrs ago. After many brushes with death, this tree lives on today. That was the start of a journey of passion and creativity for this wonderful art form. Today Chris’ collection features mainly Yamadori (and Yardadori) with an emphasis on ‘feral’ trees removed from the land to ensure Australia’s endemic species get a fair go.
A member of Newcastle Bonsai Society since 2010, he now is in the role of Vice President, tutor and is the editor of the monthly newsletter. He is a regular demonstrator at monthly workshops and has represented the club by presenting at Bunnings stores and other venues to promote the Annual Show, Newcastle Bonsai Society and the wonderful past-time working with bonsai can be. Last year, Chris has started a Wednesday evening workshop to encourage new members and members who are time poor on the weekends.
